OUR ROOMS
The Nursery is split over two floors and has two enclosed outdoor spaces.
Upstairs we have a baby room for those under 18 months and a Tots area (comprising of 3 separate rooms) for children up to two and half years.
Downstairs we have our Jelly Beans room for our rising 3's, and a preschool room for our oldest nursery children...
Upstairs - Jelly Babies and Jelly Tots (0-30 months)
Here in Jelly Babies we will support your baby with their learning at a pace that suits them. From sitting up to starting to walk or weaning to them having favourite foods; all of which will prepare them for the Jelly Tots room and future learning. We try to stick their routine from home as much as possible so remember to keep us up to date with how you’re getting on at home, such as nap times or how much milk they’re having.
We love to use our senses to explore in the baby and tots rooms, so this means taking part in lots of messy and wet activities so there may be days your child goes home with green toes from exploring with the paint! Singing is also one of our favourite things to do, along with looking at books.
As children move into our Tots room, they are lots of opportunities for the children to become independent, dress up, build, climb, get messy... all of the thing that toddler love to do!
Our babies and tots have access to our small outdoor area throughout the day and often go for walks to the park.

Jelly Beans 2.5 years to 3.5 years
The children in our Jelly Beans room are supported by the staff in strengthening their independence by making their own choices in all areas of learning. As with all rooms, they have access to ‘continuous provision’ throughout the day in areas such as role play, creative and messy, construction and small world and our book area.
During snack and meal times, children are supported to serve their own food and help clear away after, again promoting independence and also self-care. Children are also supported with toilet training when they’re ready by a team of staff who are well experienced in this area. We have changing facilities within the room however for those that aren’t quite ready yet.
The Jelly Beans regularly participate in group activities which include, but are not limited to, interactive story boards, ring games and dance sessions. This supports the children to develop their social interactions and communication.
We also offer free flow access to the outdoor area in which the children are free to access activities supporting their gross motor skills through movement, exploration and adventurous play!

Smarties 3.5 years+
Our smarties room and routine are organised to allow children to be independent all day long, building on the skills they have developed in the previous rooms. For example, the smarties children like to serve their own snacks/meals without any support and help clear away afterwards as well as deciding when to play inside or outside.
Building on the group activities in Jelly Beans, we introduce more structured group times which focus on literacy development such as simple phonics through ‘letters and sounds’ activities as well as maths, music or investigation.
You will also notice in this room that there is a focus on school readiness. This does not just mean learning to read, write and count. Instead we focus on ensuring your child becomes emotionally and physically ready for school. For example, by supporting them to…
- Settle happily without their parents/carers
- Communicate their needs to peers and staff
- Attend to their own care needs (such as toileting and handwashing) as well as get themselves ready to go outside
- Listen to and follow simple instructions
- Be curious and want to learn
This support is tailored to your child based on what we observe, the information you give us and also the transition form we receive from your child’s key person in Jelly Beans; so that by the time they leave to go to school, they are completely prepared for their next adventure.

LETS PLAY OUTSIDE!
The nursery has two separate enclosed outdoor areas, both with spongy flooring. The children upstairs share the smaller outdoor area with our Jelly Beans children (who have free-flow access for most of the day) and the Smarties have their own large outdoor area.
